Purdue basketball to host alumni game and intrasquad scrimmage on Aug. 4

From Purdue sports info:

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – In an unprecedented coming together of the past and present of Purdue men’s basketball, Boilermaker fans will have the opportunity to relive some of their favorite Purdue basketball memories during an alumni game on Keady Court, and will also get their first look at the 2012-13 team with an intrasquad scrimmage, at Mackey Arena on Saturday, Aug. 4.

We’re thrilled to be able to hold these two games this summer, Purdue head coach Matt Painter said. We’re in a unique situation with the 10 practices we have to prepare for our Italy trip, and we’re able to use one of those practices for the intrasquad scrimmage. I’m excited for our fans to get an early look at our current team, and I’m equally excited to honor our former players and get them back in Mackey Arena.

The alumni game is set to tip off at 2 p.m. ET on Keady Court. Among the fan favorites currently scheduled to participate are Brian Cardinal, Tarrance Crump, Carson Cunningham, Keaton Grant, Marcus Green, Matt Kiefer, Chris Kramer, Troy Lewis, Kenneth Lowe, Todd Mitchell, Bobby Riddell, Ryne Smith, David Teague and Mark Wohlford.

A complete list of alumni participants will be announced later this summer.

Immediately following the alumni game, fans will get their first look at the 2012-13 Purdue squad when the Boilermakers put on an intrasquad scrimmage. In addition to returning eight letterwinners from last season’s NCAA Tournament team, including reigning Big Ten Sixth Man of the Year D.J. Byrd, the Boilers welcome a consensus top-20 recruiting class to campus this summer.

All men’s basketball alumni in attendance will be introduced during halftime of the intrasquad scrimmage.

Tickets for the games will be priced at $10 for the lower level (reserved) and $5 for the upper level (general admission). A limited number of free tickets (one per student) will be available to Purdue students in the normal student sections.

Premium seat holders for men’s basketball can purchase their normal seat ticket locations from June 18-20. All John Purdue Club members can begin purchasing tickets on June 21, with a priority deadline of July 3. Seating assignments will be made by using the John Purdue Club priority points system.

Tickets will go on sale to the general public on July 9.

Tickets may be purchased online at purduesports.com, by calling (800) 49-SPORT or in person at the Purdue Athletic Ticket Office. Located on the concourse level on the east side of Mackey Arena, the Athletic Ticket Office is open for business from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. ET, Monday-Friday.
