WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue men’s basketball team has accepted a bid to the 2013 College Basketball Invitational (CBI). Purdue will host Western Illinois on Wednesday, March 20, at 7 p.m. ET.

This year’s selection marks the Boilers’ first appearance in the event, which is in its sixth year of existence and hosted by the Gazelle Group.

We’re happy for the chance to continue our season and excited that the Gazelle Group afforded us this opportunity, Purdue head coach Matt Painter said. I’m confident that this will be a positive step for the future of our program.motion p logo

Tickets will go on sale to John Purdue Club members at 9 a.m. ET and to the general public at noon ET on Monday through the Purdue Athletic Ticket Office.

Located on the concourse level on the east side of Mackey Arena, the Athletic Ticket Office is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday (except holidays). Tickets may also be purchased over the phone at (800) 49-SPORT or online at purduesports.com.

Tickets are available for $25 in the club areas (reserved), $15 in the non-club lower arena (reserved) and $10 in the upper arena (general admission). Youth tickets are available for $5 apiece in the non-club lower arena and upper arena.

Purdue students with the VIP Card are eligible for one free ticket each by presenting their card at the Athletic Ticket Office. All other Purdue students may purchase tickets for $5 apiece. Student seating will be general admission in the normal student sections.

As a benefit of membership, all John Purdue Club members who purchase tickets may have access to the Spurgeon Club, located on the east side of Mackey Arena, by presenting their JPC identification card.

The Spurgeon Club will open two hours prior to tip-off and feature a full cash bar and upgraded concessions for purchase. Until Mackey Arena opens one hour prior to tip, entrance to the Spurgeon Club will be off of Northwestern Ave., directly across from the former site of Region’s Bank. Once the arena opens, JPC members may access the Spurgeon Club from both the Mackey concourse and Northwestern Ave. Once inside the club, access to the arena is not permitted until 60 minutes prior to tip.

Dining service in the club will conclude at tip-off, and alcohol service will conclude at the under-16:00 media timeout of the second half.

Purdue men’s basketball season parking passes, regardless of lot assignment, will be honored free of charge in Lots A, F and G during CBI competition. All lots north of Ross-Ade Stadium will be open to the public free of charge.

The Boilermakers are 4-0 all-time against Western Illinois, and haven’t faced the Leathernecks since taking an 83-48 decision at Mackey Arena on Dec. 9, 1999. Purdue is 12-0 all-time against teams that currently comprise the Summit League.

A win on Wednesday would pit the Boilers against the winner of the first-round matchup between Vermont and Santa Clara on Monday, March 25. Purdue is 4-0 all-time against Santa Clara and has never faced Vermont.

Wednesday’s game will be broadcast on AXS TV. For availability of AXS TV, please visit axs.tv/subscribe. Larry Clisby, Rob Blackman and Ralph Taylor will also have the radio call on the Purdue Sports Network.
