INDIANAPOLIS —  It’s not supposed to be this easy, is it?  Jeremy Lamb missed 11 months of action with a torn ACL, but since his return, he’s playing like he never left.

After Monday night’s 22-point performance, Lamb is averaging 16.8 points, and 4.8 rebounds while shooting 53% from the field and 41% from 3.  He’s been getting to the rim with ease, and making big plays when the team has needed it.

“We have a lot of people out, but we’ve got a lot on the team that contribute,” Lamb said on Monday night. “Trying to take care of my body as best as possible. Had a long rehab and I’ve been training for 11 months for this exact time and for this moment.  I worked hard so that when I was able to come back, I would be able to contribute right away.”

“He can handle,” said Head Coach Nate Bjorkgren. “He hits big shots. He’s smooth out there. Nothing really rattles him either. He’s really locked in. I just like the way he’s been handling himself out there.”

For a team decimated with injuries, Jeremy Lamb’s return has come at an important time.  Myles Turner had high praise for his teammate on Monday: “When he was out, he was in here every single day,” Turner said. “He was the first one here, and always one of the last to leave. It’s his work ethic and how he attacked his rehab. It’s inspiring. He’s hooping, and we’re going to need him.”

He’s not the only teammate who has noticed. Malcolm Brogdon also agrees: “He’s a starter in this league. We’re excited to have him back. It’s huge for us.”

Whether he continues to come off the bench, or enters the starting lineup at some point, having the “Fly-Guy” back in action is massive for Indiana.  He’s another 3-point threat. Another guy that can occasionally create his own shot. And another guy who is fearless on the court, no matter what the situation is.
