No. 7: C.M. Punk (Cult of Personality, Living Colour, 1988)
I remember this song from my high school days, not as a wrestling theme. The adjusted WWE version’s opening guitar riff is excellent. Punk is unique, as is the particular style Living Colour brought to the game — a furious fusion of funk and metal. Added note: the lead singer, Corey Glover, is black. Yes, brothas can rock! Living Colour was named best new artist at the 1989 MTV Video Music Awards, and the song won a Grammy for best Hard Rock Performance in 1990. The video is not wrestling-related, it’s the video from the song back in the day.
