Friday Night Lights Prognostications: Dragash’s prep football picks

By CRAIG DRAGASH

OK, my debut was modest at best, going 3-2 on my high school football picks last week; but I was the big winner because I had no one go against me!!!  Come on people, I’m a competitive guy; I can’t be competitive without competition!  If you want to take me on, give me your winners in the comments section at the end of the article.  You can also send them on Twitter by clicking on the link at the bottom of the page.

Let’s see how you do with these games in Week Five:

Avon at Brownsburg

My top game of the week; Avon has the only loss between these two teams to a very good Fishers squad.  Brownsburg cruised past HSE two weeks ago, then squeaked by Westfield in week 4.  The home team takes this one.

Brownsburg 38, Avon 21

Greenwood at Plainfield

Greenwood has had an easier schedule to this point; Plainfield is coming off of the tough loss to Roncalli.  The Quakers bounce back this week.

Plainfield 24, Greenwood 20

Chatard at Ritter @Marian U

Both teams are undefeated; Chatard has played the tougher schedule to this point.  The Trojans made a believer out of me after defeating Cathedral last week.

Chatard 28, Ritter 14

Zionsville at Westfield

Interesting matchup; Westfield is 1-3, but their losses are to three top teams.  Their worst loss was a 10 point defeat at the hands of Fishers.  Zionsville gave up 50 points to HSE last week; the defense looks for redemption in this one.

Zionsville 24, Westfield 17

Mt. Vernon at Pendleton Heights

Pendleton Heights lost to Shelbyville last week; Shelbyville defeated Rushville by one point in OT.  Mt. Vernon crushed Rushville last week, and they will carry a three game win streak into Fortville.

Mt. Vernon 28, Pendleton Heights 17

Tiebreakers (predict the score for each team):

1.     Avon at Brownsburg

2.     Chatard at Ritter

3.     Zionsville at Westfield
