FNLP: Dragash looks to keep rolling after going 4-1 last week

OK folks, I’m heating up on Friday Night Lights Prognostications; 4-1 last week with my only miss being Chatard’s loss to Cincinnati Elder.  That puts me now at 10-5 on the season.  You won’t find Carmel vs. Warren Central among these picks; you’ll have to catch my preview for that one.

Thanks to our friends at The Gridiron Digest for laying out the matchups. Here is my offering at my first 5-0 effort of the season:

Center Grove at Ben Davis

Ben Davis has played as well as anyone in the state this year. Center Grove coach Eric Moore always has his team prepared to offset advantages that their opponents may have.  Along with Carmel/Warren Central, this is the game of the week.  Center Grove keeps this one within striking distance, but there will be too much purple for Center Grove to handle:

Ben Davis 28, Center Grove 20

Martinsville at Roncalli

Both teams are coming off of big wins in week five; Martinsville rolled up Whiteland, while Roncalli took care of Brebeuf.  This is a great matchup of a high-powered Martinsville offense vs. a stingy Roncalli defense.  Roncalli is too much to handle in this one:

Roncalli 21, Martinsville 17

Northwestern at Hamilton Heights

Heights lost to Tipton in week one, then followed that up with five straight blowout wins.  Northwestern’s only loss was to 5-1 Lewis Cass.  This figures to be a good old-fashioned shootout with both offenses playing very well right now:

Hamilton Heights 45, Northwestern 38

Southport at Lawrence Central

Southport is 4-2, but they lack a win over a top team.  They get that top team in LC, but the Bears appear to be on a mission to prove they belong in the championship conversation.

Lawrence Central 48, Southport 24

Tipton at Sheridan

Tipton has played quality football as of late, winning five straight before dropping one to Lafayette Central Catholic last week.  Coach Bud Wright’s Blackhawks are 4-2, and are on a 4-game winning streak.  This one is my upset special this week:

Sheridan 31, Tipton 28
