About the Editor

Hello, sports fans, and welcome to indysportslegends.com. My name is Cliff Brunt, editor and lead writer for this site.

I wrote for The Associated Press for seven years, and when the company recently downsized here in Indianapolis, I decided this would be a good way to continue on my path as a sports writer.

I am perhaps best known as the AP’s beat writer for the Indiana Pacers, Purdue football and basketball and the Indiana Fever. Over a 15-year sports writing career, I’ve covered the 2008 Beijing Olympics, two men’s and one women’s Final Four, Super Bowl XLVI, the College World Series, the Indianapolis 500, the NFL Scouting Combine and the NBA playoffs. I love social media – the Big Ten Network recently named me one of the top Purdue tweeters, and I hope that remains the case.

I’ve worked for a daily newspaper, a weekly newspaper, a wire service and as a freelancer. Those experiences, I believe, have prepared me for this. I will write everything from enterprise stories to hard news stories to columns. I will focus largely on covering the Pacers, Purdue and the Fever because of familiarity. I plan to cover some high school games, hope to be involved with Colts coverage, and I will pay attention to the WWE and MMA, too. I am excited about the chance to unveil a greater level of creativity while sticking to the news principles I learned through my years of training at the AP.

Thank you for clicking on this page. Feel free to click on the others. Stay tuned – this is going to be a legendary ride.

God bless,

Cliff Brunt

  1. Cliff: While it is hard for me to imagine you not providing top shelf quality work anymore for the AP I look forward to enjoying your new project.
