Colts cut down to 78 players

From the Indianapolis Colts:

The Indianapolis Colts today waived the following players: CB-Johnny Adams, CB-Allen Chapman, G-Danous Estenor, DT-Kellen Heard, P/K-Brandon McManus, RB-Davin Meggett, LB-C.O. Prime, C-Rick Schmeig and S-Ashante Williams. WR-Maurice Williams was waived with an injury settlement and CB-Teddy Williams was waived-injured. With the moves today, the Colts have reached a 78-man roster. The team has until 4 p.m. EDT on Tuesday, August 27 to reach the league-mandated 75-man roster.

Adams was signed by the Colts as a free agent on August 13, 2013. At Michigan State, he started 39-of-54 career games, finishing with 157 tackles, 35 passes defensed and 11 interceptions.

Chapman was signed by the Colts as an undrafted free agent on May 13, 2013. He spent two seasons at Kansas State where he totaled 107 career tackles, six interceptions, two interception returns for touchdowns and 15 passes defensed.

Estenor was signed by the Colts as an undrafted free agent on August 1, 2013. He started 23-of-33 career games at the University of South Florida.

Heard was originally signed by the Colts as a free agent on November 27, 2012. Last season, he played in 11 games with the St. Louis Rams and the Colts and totaled eight tackles, including six solo stops.

McManus was signed by the Colts as an undrafted free agent on April 30, 2013. At Temple, he set career records for points scored (338), field goals made (60) and attempted (83) and punting average (45.4).

Meggett was originally signed to the Colts practice squad on December 11, 2012. Prior to that, he spent time on the Houston Texans practice squad.

Prime was signed by the Colts as an undrafted free agent on April 30, 2013. He started 38-of-45 games at Wagner College and registered 297 tackles (111 solo), 11.5 tackles for loss, 2.0 sacks, five forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries, seven passes defensed and two interceptions.

Schmeig was signed by the Colts as an undrafted free agent on May 9, 2013. At Purdue, he played in 45 games, making 29 starts on the offensive line.

Ashante Williams was signed by the Colts as an undrafted free agent on August 8, 2013. He played in 43 career games at the University of Illinois and totaled 127 tackles, 17 passes defensed, 2.5 tackles for loss, two fumble recoveries, 1.5 sacks and an interception.

Maurice Williams was signed by the Colts as an undrafted free agent on August 19, 2013. For his AFL career, he recorded 39 receptions for 537 yards and 12 touchdowns, while adding 35 kickoff returns for 628 yards and two touchdowns.

Teddy Williams was originally signed to the Colts practice squad on October 30, 2012 and was elevated to the active roster on November 16. Last season, he saw action on defense and special teams in seven games.

Sidbury was signed by the Colts as an unrestricted free agent on March 13, 2013. In four seasons with the Atlanta Falcons (2009-2012), he compiled 12 tackles (eight solo) and 5.0 sacks.
