Purdue’s Akeem Hunt wins Big Ten honor

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Junior Akeem Hunt has been named the co-Big Ten Special Teams Player of the Week.

Hunt returned the opening kickoff against Indiana State for a touchdown after taking a handoff. The return was his second career score on a kickoff (also 100 yards at Ohio State in 2012).

Hunt, from Covington, Ga., finished the game against the Sycamores with 243 all-purpose yards, gaining 123 yards on kick returns, 82 yards rushing and 38 receiving yards. The conference honors are the first of the season for any Boilermaker and the first of Hunt’s career.
