It’s official.  Romeo Langford is a Hoosier.

The 5-star recruit chose Indiana over Kansas and Vanderbilt in an announcement at his high school on Monday night.  It was quite possibly the most followed recruitment in the history of the Indiana fan base.  And now, Hoosier fans can rejoice.  Langford will be wearing the candy striped pants this fall.

Langford joins an impressive recruiting class for Archie Miller for next season.  The class includes Jerome Hunter, Damezi Anderson, and Robert Phinisee, all of which are 4-star recruits.  Assuming Juwan Morgan returns for his senior season and players like Justin Smith continue to develop, the Hoosiers will be set to take a giant leap forward.

At his introductory press conference last March, Indiana Coach Archie Miller vowed to recruit the state hard.  He just landed the biggest in-state recruit since Eric Gordon or even Damon Bailey.  Robert Phinisee is also an Indiana kid, and Coach Miller is off to a great start with his goal.  With Langford’s commitment, it’s the first time Indiana has landed the #1 in-state recruit since 2007.

Romeo Langford was named a McDonalds All-American in January, and was recently named Indiana’s Mr. Basketball.  He finished his high-school career with 3,002 career points, fourth on the all-time list for Indiana.  He’s already considered a top-10 pick for the 2019 NBA Draft which shows the talent he possesses.

Even if Langford only plays at Indiana for one year, don’t underestimate what this means for the program.  The Hoosiers are in line to have a big year, and his decision could begin a domino-effect for other big recruits in Bloomington.  He’s been called a “Generational player” by coaches and scouts.  There’s a reason for the hype.  And now, there’s a reason to believe in the Indiana Hoosiers again.
