INDIANAPOLIS — After a rough 48 hours last week, the Indiana Pacers have responded nicely with back to back wins, improving their record to 22-12 on the season.  On Sunday night, they took care of business defeating the Washington Wizards 105-89 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

Victor Oladipo didn’t attempt a shot until 5:37 left in the first half.  The Pacers didn’t shoot a free-throw until halfway through the 3rd quarter.  But with strong defense and a balanced attack, it didn’t matter.

Myles Turner continued his dominating month of December.  He recorded his fourth straight double-double with 18 points and a career-high 17 rebounds.

“I love the fact that he continues to rebound for us,” said Head Coach Nate McMillan. “Defend the basket, and rebound. Tonight he made the right reads on offense to get some open looks.”

Seven players scored in double-figures, and Cory Joseph had eight points himself.  The Pacers improved to 19-9 on the season when the second unit scores 30+ points. “You’re starting to see we’re establishing our identity,” said McMillan. “I don’t think we’ve peaked yet.”

With Tyreke Evans sidelined once again, it meant more minutes for Aaron Holiday.  He responded with 12 points in 14 minutes of action.

“I’m never going to be afraid to shoot the ball,” Holiday said. “I don’t care what the stats say.  I’m going to be ready to shoot the shots I should take.  For the most part, I’m starting to get the grasp of things at this level.”

The Pacers also improved to 12-3 on the season when holding opponents under 100 points.  They held the Wizards to season-lows of 89 points and 36.8% shooting.

Indiana also dominated the boards, out-rebounding the Wizards by 20, including 30-14 in the second half.

Victor Oladipo scored just 12 points, but dished out nine assists, and pulled down six rebounds.  Oh, and he also gave away a car.

The Pacers will travel to Atlanta to play the Hawks on the 26th, and will return home to face the Pistons on Friday night.
