INDIANAPOLIS —  The Big Ten Tourney is underway at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.  We’ll have a running log of notes through the tournament’s first few days.  This story will continue to be updated live.

Minnesota vs. Northwestern-

-At halftime of this game, the PA announcer informed fans of the news= No fans will be allowed at the tournament after Wednesday’s games.  A loud chorus of boos rang out when the announcement was made.  Some school personnel and the media will still be allowed at the games.  The Big Ten had previously announced that everything would go on as planned.  When other sports and tournaments began to make this decision, the Big Ten decided to do the same.

-FINAL:  Minnesota 74, Northwestern 57.   Northwestern had no answer for Oturu in the post. Oturu finished with 24 points and eight rebounds.  Northwestern’s disappointing season comes to an end.

Indiana vs. Nebraska

-Not the start the Hoosiers were looking for on the defensive end. Nebraska leads 14-13.  Indiana is clearly the favorite in this game, but all of the pressure is on them.

-Hoosiers start the game 9-of-12 from the field and take a 21-16 lead.  Good to see Jerome Hunter knock down an early three.

-After trailing 33-27, the Hoosiers end the first half on a 16-1 run.  They got the good version of Devonte Green in the final four minutes- he hit some big shots, dished out a few assists, and played solid defense.  Hoosier fans breathing a little easier after that run.

-Indiana stays hot out of the halftime break.  They went on a 31-5 run.  They look to be in good shape to make the NCAA Tournament- if there is one.  News has been circulating the Fieldhouse about the NBA suspending their season after Rudy Gobert tested positive for the virus.

-The Hoosiers had one of their classic droughts and Nebraska cut the lead to nine, but now the Hoosiers are pulling away once again.  They lead 80-64 with five minutes to play.  IU is about to get that all-important 20th win of the season.

-FINAL:  INDIANA 89, Nebraska 64.  The Hoosiers used a balanced attack with seven players scoring eight or more points.

-Archie Miller post-game quotes:  “I’m proud of our depth. We had a lot of guys play valuable minutes and get some things done. I’m proud of Armaan (Franklin). He’s a great teammate. The guys who can help you the most this time of year, are the guys who care the most.”        -“We’ll brace ourselves for what happens next. It puts it into reality. Obviously you cross your fingers that college basketball can continue on, even without fans. We’re hoping for the best. When experts speak up, you better listen.”      -“The run at the end of the first half was big for us.  Devonte was big to end the half, and Rob was big to start the second half.”

-That was unlike anything I’ve ever seen.  Nebraska didn’t do any post-game interviews.  Archie Miller was the only one from Indiana to do one.  Media members were scrambling trying to figure out what was happening and how to find out more news.  Stay tuned for whatever might be next in the world of sports.  Hopefully, this isn’t the last game I’ll get to cover this season.
