Chatard’s predictable offense does it the same way every week, run right, run left or run middle.

That tried and true formula worked again on Friday. Chatard beat Brebeuf Jesuit 28-0 in the second round of sectional play by following the game plan that has gotten them to this point: keeping it on the ground and controlling the ball and clock.

Pete Hartley scored three touchdowns in Chatard’s 28-0 sectional win over Brebeuf.

Chatard scored all four of its touchdowns on runs of more than 20 yards. Three rushing touchdowns came from the 5-foot-8, 170 pound senior dynamo, Pete Hartley. He has done it the same way all season — get lost behind the line then squirt out after breaking a sure tackle.

Junior Alex Kimack scored the final touchdown. The 6-foot-2, 205-pound battering ram who runs over people and throws vicious stiff arms will be Chatard’s Trojan Horse, next year, pun intended.

Hartley’s three TDs, in order were, 65, 52 and 22 yards. That’s good for 139 yards on three carries. Kimack’s score came on a 47-yard gallop.

Brebeuf had a few opportunities to score. Chatard’s Joe Fagan intercepted Brebeuf’s Tyler Holt at the goal line with about 30 seconds left in the first half. On the ensuing drive, he had a monster catch, leaping above a defender to bring down a pass. The Braves also had a kickoff return that was run back for a touchdown, however a flag came in for an illegal block and negated that score.

The Trojans play Greencastle at Lawrence North in the sectional 21 finals on Friday.
