ISL was among the media that asked Danny Granger on Monday about how his left knee has been doing since training camp started on Saturday. We also talked with Granger’s teammates, who were impressed. When coach Frank Vogel was asked about Granger, he said, “Danny’s looked great.” He then repeated the sentence for emphasis.

Vogel hasn’t said for sure whether Granger would start or come off the bench. Lance Stephenson stepped in and played well last season. ISL editor Cliff Brunt gave his opinion on the topic during the offseason here.

Here is video from Monday’s practice with Granger discussing how his knee is holding up.

A few other nuggets from practice:

-Coach Vogel said newcomer Chris Copeland might be the team’s best 3-point shooter.

“Copeland is maybe the best shooter on our team,” Vogel said. “We didn’t have a great deal of 3-point shooting last year. With Danny back and him (Copeland) in there, that should be greatly improved.”

-Pacers center Roy Hibbert said he’s feeling good carrying his added weight. He’s bulked up to 290 pounds.

“It feels good,” he said. “It’s the best shape I’ve felt in a long time. I’m not lumbering up and down. I’m getting up and down pretty quick. Moving well, I’m light on my feet.”

–Hibbert went out of his way to make sure it didn’t seem like he was discrediting Tyler Hansbrough when praising Luis Scola, Hansbrough’s replacement as the backup power forward.

“Nothing against Tyler, but Scola is in a league of his own in international play,” Hibbert said. “He’s really wise. He’s a very talented scorer and he’s a difference maker.”
