Roncalli rolls past Greenwood, will play Cathedral

I watched Greenwood play Indian Creek earlier this season and was impressed. I had heard about Roncalli and knew the Rebels were good.

I was expecting a battle when Greenwood and Roncalli faced off in a Class 4A sectional game, but that’s not what I saw. Roncalli scored three touchdowns in the third quarter to pull away for a 35-14 win on Friday night. The Rebels advanced to play Cathedral next Friday, and the Blue and Gold had better be ready.

Roncalli impressed me with its hard-hitting defense and its ability to control the line of scrimmage on both sides. Running backs Colin McManama and Dylan Evans both ran for more than 100 yards, and the defense shut down a Greenwood squad that had averaged more than 40 points per game. Kole Stogner ran for 151 yards for Greenwood and looks like a possible Division I player.

Here is the link to my game story in the Indianapolis Star:

Roncalli 35, Greenwood 14

Here’s video from VYPECI on a touchdown run by Roncalli’s Colin McManama.
